In my life I have almost fainted about 6 times. I think fainting means you actually lose consciousness, something I luckily never did.
The first time was around the age of 16 getting out of the shower before school. Felt all weak suddenly and started to see spots. Had to lay down for a few minutes and then felt fine. Most of the other times have strangely also revolved around the shower. But those times had to do with staying in the sauna too long and getting overheated. The worst time was at the Luxor a few years back. After a workout, I had some snacks and a few juices. Sat in the sauna for 20 minutes and then the steam room for 20 minutes. I started to feel a bit nauseous and weak. I got up to walk to a a chair and it really started to hit me. I barely made it to a chair. Sat there for a good five minutes feeling like I was going to toss my cookies, heart pounding while my vision was less than stellar. I imagine that's what it must feel like when dying. Scary stuff.

Yes, once from a panic attack. Ended up on the floor of my bathroom and was there for about 15 minutes.

A few times but never hitting the ground, it just sounds like you over heated yourself. A friend of mine who's a diabetic feints often when he's not taking care of his blood sugars.

Yes, 3 times, and each time involves needles and/or blood. I hate the feeling, feel so hot, but just can't cool off enough to stop from actually fainting. Not really sure why I'm that way around blood or needles, but that's the way I am.

I've fainted well over three dozen times in my life. I'm anemic, so it happens. Last time was just two months ago... I do totally lose consciousness. Wake up feeling like I've slept for hours, even though I've been out for only a minute or so.

Sounds like you had a case of vertigo more than anything. You won't likely pass out from it, but you will feel dizzy and nauseous. I get vertigo from time to time if I overheat ... do you have a vent in your bathroom to release the steam from your shower?

I'm almost the same way, any talking about broken bones or needles/blood, that kind of stuff, and I will start to feel sick after a while and get extremely pale and feel like im gonna pass out. Once I started to fall over and pushed my friend in the back and regained my balance.

Anemia has something to do with iron, yes? Is it possible you could faint while driving or operating heavy machinery?

My deal has been staying in the sauna too long. When I get up and walk out, usually to the shower, that's when I have felt like the grim reaper was closing in. I remember one time contemplating sprawling out on the shower floor, luckily I was able to make it to a bench.

I hear ya man, needles scare the freakin shit out of me. Probably because I had surgery back in middle school and got a rookie nurse missing my vein 7 times with the IV before surgery. Makes me feel faint everytime...

I fell out of a tree once - about 30 feet up.
Fainted before I hit the ground.

Just bruised.

Anemia is low iron in the blood, yes. When my iron is low, I don't faint from that specifically, but it makes me quite prone to headrushes and that sort of thing. I've never fainted driving only because I'm not really doing anything that would give me a head rush, plus I'm seated which helps. Nearly every time I've fainted I was standing at the time. (Which makes for some good bruises and embarassing stories.)

As for the heavy equipment question, I don't operate anything that requires more than two AA batteries, so I should be okay there. :)

You might want to see a doctor about getting vertigo in heat. Could be a hydration issue.

I fainted while driving over a bridge, hit the guard rail and median. Im not sure why i fainted, they took me to the hospital and my blood work was fine. Could it be from anxiety or panic attacks?? I had the feeling again a few weeks ago. It lasts for 5 or 6 hours and my knees get weak. Ive tried eating and drinking water, etc. the only thing that makes it go away is time.

The shit really screws up my blood pressure. Stand up & find out it's time to lie down really, really soon.
